Thanatology of Andrej Belyj. Paper First. Golden Cockerel and Silver Dove

The paper investigates the death motif in the novel «Silver Dove» by Andrej Belyj. Primary this motif has appeared in his verses and then it has turned into prose – «Silver Dove» and «Petersburg». The story of «Silver Dove» is arena of the struggle between Eros and Thanatos connected to the fate of chief hero – Peter Darjalsky. At the same time the plot of this novel symbolizes the distruction of Russia closed between West civilization and East «panmongolizm». Collision of two zones of the Space – Gugolevo and Celebeevo – foretells the tragic end of hero and Russia.
