The article is devoted to the novel of G. P. Block «Loneliness», published in Leningrad in 1929. Georgy Petrovich Block (1888–1962) was a cousin of great Russian poet Alexander Blok, philologist, writer and translator. He belonged to a generation of people whose fate changed dramatically after the 1917 revolution. This injury is realized in the fate of the hero of the novel,
a talented mathematician Evgraf Aleksandrovich Batenin, who fell off the swing in his childhood and became a hunchback. In the artistic fabric of the novel bodily harm hides inner beauty, ugly is only the tragic death of the hero. The article shows the relationship of prose by G. P.
