The article contains the analysis of work «“Red Shaman” by P. Oyunsky and Yakut folklore» of one of the founders of the historical-genetic study of the Yakut literature and folklore I. V. Pukhov where he writes about the folklore origins of the poem «Red Shaman». I. V. Pukhov is one of those who first justifies theoretical-methodologically the folklore basis of the Yakut literature. He examines the poem «Red Shaman» at the level of images, ideas and composition.
Pukhov reveals the value of each item of folklore and its functions. Thus, Pukhov consistently proved that P. A. Oyunsky has well known and therefore very keen sense of folklore, and thereby was able to fully rethink the poetics of folklore and skillfully used to create such unique pieces as «Red Shaman».
