Abstract
The article is devoted to justification of the hypothesis of the author about the source of the last lines of the poem of A. S. Pushkin «I have erected a monument...». The story about arguing with a fool goes back to the Book of Proverbs of king Solomon and the Talmud. The last line is a «Monument» colors the entire text of the poem unexpected meanings and determines the rotation
from antiquity to the modern cultural guide to Jewish Wisdom literature, one of the clearest expressions of which is the Book of Proverbs of king Solomon.
