Abstract
The contamination of motives of dream and insanity in the non-published pamphlet of A. Voyeykov «Madhouse» is considered in the article. The state of the author-protagonist, similar to a dream, creates a particular space in Russian literature of the years 1810–1830, which is assimilated to the asylum. This relates to the motive and the idea of madness which are the factors
that configure the literary conscious of the epoch.
